WhatsApp Releases New Drawing Tool Features For Android and New Chat Bubble Color For Desktop

WhatsApp added a new drawing tool to Android as well as a new chat bubble color scheme for its Desktop app. For Android, this drawing tool will get a new pencil tool in a future update. But separately, WhatsApp Desktop will receive a new dark blue color and is only visible when using dark theme mode.

Not only that, but WhatsApp is also testing a new emoji message reaction information tab as well as a new setting for message reaction notifications.

This is according to a report seen on WABetaInfo, that WhatsApp is adding a new drawing tool to its Android application. Currently, WhatsApp only has one pencil for drawing but will get two more new pencils one thinner and one thicker than the existing pencil. Further, the report mentions that WhatsApp is also working on a blur image tool that can also see the bright light in the future.

These new features can now be found in the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.22.3.5 update, only they are disabled by default. The report also mentions that since the above-mentioned features are still under development, it may take some time for WhatsApp beta testers to complete them.

Starting with a new drawing tool, according to a report by leading WhatsApp tipster WABetaInfo, the messaging giant is working on two new pencil tools for its image and video editor. Coming to the next feature, for WhatsApp on Windows and Mac. As per WABetaInfo, the company has started rolling out a new update (v2.2201.2.0), with the same build number as the beta version of WhatsApp UWP, for its desktop client. It brings a new color for chat bubbles when using the app in a dark theme. You can see the color difference here:

As you can see in the comparison image above, the new chat bubbles have a darker green color compared to the older chat bubbles. This is in line with the changes to WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS launched by the previous company.

A report from last week mentioned that WhatsApp for iOS users will reportedly be getting new notification settings to manage which notifications they want to receive – whether for individual or group chats – and the ability to manage notification sounds. The instant messaging app will also reportedly feature a message reaction information tab that will show who liked the message and which emoji was used.
